Fear’s Power

I used to be afraid

of revealing

who I truly am

But then I looked in the mirror

and saw who I had become

while stifling myself

and my demons

I faced the changes I made,

the actions I took,

the words I spoke,

all which amounted

to a greater horror

than gathering the courage

to say I was different

from societal norms
