You’re shutting us out – I understand you do not want us to see you this way, for we have only seen brief glimpses in moments of extreme pain. You need to mourn a tragedy, an unexpected stake in your heart. There may be anger, tears, confusion, fear – emotions you rarely let us see, for you raised us, protected us, led us, putting you in the position to always be certain, calm, collected. But we have grown, we are old enough to see you as human, mindful you too can be hurt, experience the trivialities of life, and become petrified with worry. We are here, by your side, to provide comfort, aid in any way, distraction, for you raised us not to run away from these heavy emotions, but to lend a hand and face them head on.
